Basic Grey Porcelain Collection

Hi, Michelle here! I have been busy playing with the new Basic Grey Porcelain collection. I just love how soft, pretty and feminine it is. It is also very versatile and great for vintage-type photos as well as your most current photos.

I have done two layouts, one of my daughter a couple of months ago and one of my parents from nearly 40 years ago. I just love using the die cut stickers as they give you ready made embellishments ready to go that you know are going to go perfectly with your papers. I have also used Kaiser Rhinestones, Making Memories Paperie brads, Chatterbox and Basic Grey Chipboard letters and plenty of flowers and buttons. I have to say though that the bees are really cute - my new favourite thing!

Question

We had this great comment and question come in:

Blogger jeni@pnkgeeni said...

that is such a wonderful calender. could you help me with something. i need to find a way to make a custom word album similar to the kaiser craft one's.

And I thought it a great opportunity to tell you about the custom word albums that Bo-Bunny have released. They are called My Word Letters and they involve adding the letters for the word you have chosen to the base cascading album to create your very own personalised word album!

This is fantastic news for those of you with themes or names other than the usual that are printed. Scrapbook City will be getting these in and we are hoping they might even arrive in February. Either way they will be in soon so keep a look out!

More Kaisercraft

Hi there, Katie here! Thought I would pop up some pictures of the great Kaisercraft project that I have been working on. I have just finished a perpetual calendar. This is the kind of thing you could complete at any time of the year and use forever, making it a fantastic gift.

I used the Spirograph paper range for its bright and fresh feel and finished with white Bazzill for the numbers and months. The numbers and months were cut using the Slice and the Animal Crackers design card at a size of 2". Such a great little machine that one!!

The calendar kit includes all the craft wood pieces to assemble the calendar. This includes the hooks for hanging the month and number plates as well as the plates to cover all the months and the numbers for all combination's from 1 - 31. It is also very stable with the little storage box behind to keep the months and numbers not in use.

Now one little trick I would love to share with you that is really useful with OTP (off the page) projects is filing or sanding the paper overhang. Once you have roughly cut your paper to fit your item and then glued it in place grab a file or piece of sandpaper and sand down over the edge. This will help create a neat edge which removes the excess paper for you without having to resort to craft knives or scissors in awkward positions. From the photo below you can see how the downward sanding/filing action on the overhang edge of paper helps to create a defined edge with the overhang simply coming away in the process. A great way to finish off your edges on your projects.

Also new in store is the Marrakech collection from Basic Grey. Now, I have to say I was leaving my opinion on this collection until I saw it in real life....well I can say it is absolutely gorgeous! I was lucky enough to be able to play with some of it and put this layout together (based on a Basic Grey design) and I have to say I have fallen in love with its bold colours and fun patterns.

It is in store now and has been very popular, so if you want some don't be slow or you may miss out!

Well, that is all from me for now. Keep a look out though as there is new stock on its way and we are all looking forward to having a play with that. I am especially excited about the new My Minds Eye papers! I have already had a play with some of them and all I can say is - you won't be disappointed! In fact you will have a hard time deciding which is your favourite! I know I love them all!

Kaiser Funky Hearts Mini Album

Hi there, Michelle here. Scrapbook City has some fantastic new Kaiser products in-store and I was lucky enough to be able to have a play with the new Funky Hearts Mini Album. I have used the very classy Kaiser Sakura Park papers and lots of Kaiser embellishments such as flowers, Rhinestones, Pears and Alphabets.

Even though this album is in the shape of hearts, it doesn't really have to be about "love" as such. I have done my album about the day my daughter was a flowergirl and snippits of the day. I took so many photos, it was great to include some of them in a mini-album. Having said that, if it is a "love" theme you are looking for, this album and the papers would be a perfect match.

HEART DESIGNER ALBUM - KAISER

Hi everyone! Ang here with a new project from Kaiser. I love this valentine style range...the blue and red are so fresh and fun...and any scraps I had left over were immediately snapped up by my son! And this Heart Designer album was just the right size for these few little photos I have been hanging on to for two years now! Glad to finally have them scrapped, my pile of photos is kind of getting out of control!

There are heaps of other Romance style albums at the shop...drop by and check them out!
