Morning all! Time for a new challenge already. My the time is flying by now! Have you got your Christmas cards done yet?? Personally, I won't even think about them until at least the middle of November!

So, given we are all stretched for time at this end of the year we thought an easy challenge was in order (but really, they all have been pretty easy, haven't they??!!). This challenge is a good old sketch challenge. Something we can all have a go at without having to think too long and hard. I like that kind of challenge!

As usual, link your entry with the link button below, you have two weeks, interpret the sketch how you feel (so long as we can see a vague notion of the sketch still remaining it counts!) and keep your fingers crossed that you might win one of the great prizes!

Hi there everyone! Well it is October and for as long as I can remember that means craft show time. I have been attanding the Craft and Quilt fair for around 13 years now. I remember the first time I went with my mum. She is a quilter and was trying to help me find my passion. I came home with a stack of stamps and my first tombows and a couple of ink pads....it started so innocently! Things certainly have changed since then!

Scrapbook City have a stall there again this year...hope to see you there!

I love Sketches!

So I thought today I would pose the question...what gets your creative juices flowing? I have admit that recently I have started to change the way I scrapbook. I guess it is because I am a little more tired than I was last year, I have a little trouble feeling inspired. I have devised a new routine for my scrap nights and I'd love to know what yours is too :)

First thing I do is grab myself a caffeinated beverage...usually a Pepsi Max. It is a guilty pleasure and I try to only have one at night. Then I sit down and troll through a few blogs and galleries. If I have a specific range I want to work with I will go to the manufacturers website to see if anything there inspires me. I like the Websters Pages inspireMe site as an example. If nothing catches my eye, I go straight to Pencillines or another sketch site and pull a sketch. I usually draw it myself so the resulting layout usually looks nothing like the sketch, but it was a great place to start.
The layout above was done using the Pencillines sketch on the Aussie Scrap Source Blog! I actually did it on Sunday morning while Greg was showing me a gallery he found of DIY home theatres. We got to chat, I got to multitask, everyone was happy!
I am hoping to be back later in the week with a tutorial on how I did my little flower for this week's challenge!

HOW TO - Folded Flowers

Hi there - hope you are having a great day.

Well, in the theme of handmade flowers for this fortnight's challenge, I thought I would give you a simple "how to" on one example of a handmade flower. These are dead simple and are really popular on layouts at the moment.

Here are some simple instructions:

How to make flowers:

1.Cut strip of paper 12” long.
2. Fold paper back and forth to make a fan.
3. Stick ends of paper together and press in centre to form flower. The thicker the strip of paper the bigger the flower and the bigger the folds the thicker (higher) the flower.
4. Place a glue dot or double-sided tape underneath to hold in place and then put some Pritt Power gel in the centre of flower on top side to hold in shape. Hold for a minute or two for glue to set.
5. Put something over the join to hide the glue and make a centre in your flower.
6. To add something extra to your flower, use a border punch along one side of the strip before folding into fan shape.

The example I have shown you is a very simple version but you could dress it up more by using a border punch, sticking some ribbon along the strip before folding, using some ink or mist spray or whatever your heart desires.

Happy Tuesday to everyone! I hope you are all ready for the next challenge! This week we thought we would focus on flowers. Flowers are everywhere in the scrapbook and card market place, but what has been even more popular is creating your own flowers. So the challenge is to create a layout and add some of your very own handmade flowers!

There are plenty of ways you can make your own flowers, think layered die cut or punched flowers, rolled flowers, crocheted flowers or even hand cut flowers. Plenty of ideas! And of course we have some samples for you to get you started.

New Scrapping Area

Hi Everyone

Hope you are staying dry somewhere!

I just thought I would pop by and give you a look at my new scrapping area at home and the things that I just can't do without when completing layouts or cards.

One of the best things I ever purchased was my "Clip It Up" you will notice it in the photo with embellishments hanging from it. It is fantastic because it means that my new supplies (and some older ones too) are readily accessible and easy to see. You just hang your items with small clips and you can turn it around like a Lazy Susan.

Another thing you might see in my photo is my Cricut. I am so glad now that I can have it out of the box ready to use. Before I had to store it away in a cupboard and it was always such a hassle to to use. I can see my bank balance dropping shortly as I add to my collection of cartridges.

The other thing that was in its box was my Cuttlebug - I can't wait to purchase some Spellbinders and one or two or three of the Tim Holtz dies.

Last but my no means least, is my Making Memories Precision Trimmer - just the best trimmer on the market by far and you won't ever have to buy new blades as it is self-sharpening.

Even if you don't have a new space like I do, giving your current one a tidy up and organise will help you to see some things that you may have hidden away and forgotten about! I sorted through all my supplies - there was alot - and gave some to my daughter who is 9 and really getting into scrapbooking.

I will be back later in the week with some more tips.

Hello there! How is this rain here in Brisbane...I am freezing tonight, such an odd feeling mid October!

I have for you tonight a 'few' layouts I did on retreat recently using on of the new BoBunny ranges called "Cambridge". I really liked working with this lot...gave me a much needed break from the girly layouts that have been dominating my scrapbooking for the past few months!

I have a little bit left over...enough to complete a few more layouts! I love finding a range that gives me lots of motivation, especially when I don't expect it to!

Need Some Inspiration?

Morning! So, do you need some scrapping inspiration? We all need a little every now and then and my go to source is a sketch. Sketches are a great way to kick start your creativity and get the juices flowing and even better, no two people will end up with exactly the same result!

If you haven't used a sketch before, it is basically a plan on how to set out your page. It gives you a guide on where to place your photos and your title and perhaps your journaling too. So, the obvious advantage is you don't have to think about where to put things on your page. But then you can add as much as you like in addition and make it your own really easily.

A couple of months ago I created a double page layout from a sketch for a class on using sketches, and this is a perfect example of taking a sketch and making it mine.

So first we start with the sketch. This one is from a website everything-about-scrapbooking and there are lots more where this one came from so go check it out if you need a starting place. But throw "scrapbook sketches" or something similar into google and you will get many sites to visit! (Perfect for a rainy Saturday, and our very own Kaiser Craft put up a new sketch every Saturday on their blog so there is another one to check out.)

As you can see the sketch is not spectacular to look at, and it is not supposed to be. It is after all just a plan, a starting point if you will. So with a little fiddling and selection of photos and papers and of course adding my own "flair" I finished with this:

As you can see, I added things to dress it up. I started with background papers behind my photos, then added lots of flourishes and flowers to finish off. If there is no suggested placement for embellishments on your sketch remember the "visual triangle" rule of design. This basically means lay your embellishments out in three places around your page so you create a triangle to draw the viewers eye around the page. You can see that I have done this with my flourishes and flowers.

So my finished layout looks quite different from the "plain" sketch that I started with, but you can see the basic placement of photo, titles and journaling are true to the layout of the sketch.

More Fun...

...with flowers and stuff! Welcome to a bright and sunny Monday morning (well for now anyway!). Which is doubly great for me as our home renovations are due to start today and now they can because the weather is playing nice!

So I thought I would come back and tell you a little about the fun things I did on my colour challenge sample. Firstly I have used the tattered floral die again with some of the glorious glitter paper from Best Creations. This glitter paper has some strength to it also so it can be "shaped" and it will sit well, it also cuts beautifully with this die. Once cut I curled my petals up hich gave some dimension then layered them and finished with a pearl in the centre. There are only two or three layers on these flowers, so they are really quick and easy to make!

The little yellow flowers are hand crocheted using cream cotton (only took about 5 minutes to make) and then sprayed with Wild Honey distress re-inker to colour them! Then I used my Slice with the Fonts Essentials card, to cut my title from plain smooth cardstock and I used Copic markers (be warned these "colouring pens" are addictive!!) to colour the title to match my page. I used two colours, a lighter yellow (Y15) as a base and then a darker one (Y17) to create some shadow and depth to the letters.

So with a few key tools and a little know how I have coordinated my embellishments to my page by making them myself!

If you are handy with a crochet hook there are lots of free patterns on line you can download and use to create your own flowers and remember make them in white or cream and colour them to match your project with re-inkers or mists! You could probably even colour them with your Copics (...now there is something I will have to try myself...)

New Crate Paper

Hello on this fine Thursday morning. Thought I would drop by and share with you some of the delicious new Crate Paper Restoration collection. This collection is absolutely gorgeous and so versatile too. It has a feel about it that would work with vintage photos, but it is still fresh and funky enough that you could use it with newer photos, boy or girl! Can't ask for more than that!

Crate Paper Restoration papers, Restoration border stickers, Kaiser Craft alpha stickers, Slice and Just Chillin design card, Distress Inks - Pine Needles Vintage Photo Old Paper, Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die

Have I told you about my favourite Sizzix die? Well it would have to be Tattered Florals from the Tim Holtz Alterations range. This die has four different sized flowers and three of them are perfect for layering and creating your own dimensional flowers, while the fourth one is perfect to cut up and use for leaves!

So this is what I have done with my yellow flowers. I have used the smaller two flowers with two of each size for the bigger flowers seen, secured with a bling brad and then four layers of the smallest flower for the small one. Just layer and off-set them and curl up the petals to create great co-ordinating flowers for your own project. The leaves came from the largest flower, but I inked them with Pine Needles distress ink to make them stand out a little more against the same patterned paper in the background! Easy!

And while we are on the topic of distress ink I have used a mini mister spray bottle with Vintage Photo re-inker and a touch of Heirloom Gold perfect pearls to spray the background of my photo mat. This added some interest without adding any bulk! I also used Old Paper ink on my title which was cut from smooth white cardstock using my Slice. I used the ink to age the letters to look a little like the playing cards, and along similar lines outlined the letters too.

Challenge #3

Here we are another fortnight gone already. They really are rolling around pretty fast aren't they??!! So are we all "blinged" out and ready for another challenge then?? This is going to be an easy one too. We like easy here at Scrapbook City, we don't want to have to think too long and hard about things!

This challenge is a colour combo challenge! Spring is in the air so we selected a nice bright "Springy" kind of palette. All you need to do is use this colour palette as the basis for your layout. These are the only colours besides white and black that you can use, but you can vary the shade (darkness) or tint (lightness) of them a little if you need to! And for some "colour theory" ideas to help get you started think about the 60 30 10 rule for combining colours. 60% use of your main colour, 30% of your second colour and 10% splash of your highlight colour! You have five colours to choose from so that should be easy!

So as usual we have some samples to get the juices flowing.

Wow, I have just fallen in love with these papers, the new Bo Bunny Olivia Collection - the colours are just so vibrant and beautiful. This range comes with some gorgeous embellishments - you are really spoilt for choice and of course, I couldn't just stop at one - in this layout I have used the rubons, flowers, stickers and quite a few of the large selection of papers.

To make my little fan at the top of the photo I have used a border punch on a strip of paper and then folded the strip into a fan shape. I have stuck it down behind the photo and then popped a stick pin through to finish it off. I love how the border punch gives such a lovely delicate edge to the fan. You could do this with any border punch.

Can't wait to see who has won the bling challenge. You better be quick to get your entry in!

Copic Markers and scrapbooking!

Hi it is Tammie here,
Copic markers have taken the stamping/ cardmaking world by storm. Scrapbook city stock a large range of the pens they are fabulous. I have watched our awesome card design team members create some beautiful cards using stamped images and was intrigued with these amazing pens however I am not a stamper or cardmaker as such so figured that copic markers were simply something I would not get a lot of use of......... how wrong I was!!!!! I realised that there is a use for them in scrapbooking and over the next few days will share a few of my discoveries with you.

First of all. I love using bling on my layouts, there is lots of cool bling available on the market and copic markers give me the opportunity to have what ever coloured bling I want! All you need to do is colour over the bling with the brush tip of the marker. If you colour in an area that you don't want to you can remover the colour from the bling using the 0 blender marker.

On My mother of the Bride layout for the bling challenge I coloured some of the Prima flower bling red using the R37 marker. It was so great to be able to customise my bling!

Have a go at colouring bling, you will love the outcome. Anything shiny or smooth can be coloured with copics.

Crate Paper - School Spirit is here!

Hi everyone - Zoe here to share a layout with a cute new collection that's just arrived from CHA in store! The School Spirit collection from Crate Paper is so cute, and is awesome for little boys whether they're school age or not! The colours in this range are to die for and made my page come together so easily... I will be using this collection for many more boy projects, I'm sure!

The range has a bunch of cute papers which make it perfect for paper-piecing your own embellishments... I was stuck on the best way to do the "Little" from the title (and I had run out of my alphabet stickers LOL), so I thought the bunting together with some basic twine would make an unusual and sweet title idea.

There's also a really cute paper with little bits and pieces you can cut out to make your own embellishments, and the accessory sheets and chipboard pieces are great too!

For the title, I used American Crafts Thickers - "Giggles" and the wonderful mini alphabet stickers from the Basic Grey "Basics" range, all available in store at Scrapbook City!

Prima - Fairy Flora

Hi there everyone! I am just popping by to share a couple of Prima layouts I made using the LEFTOVERS from one of the retreat classes! Everyone knows how awesome the class packs are here at Scrapbook City and this one was no exception! Look at all of those gorgeous flowers! (Bling was an added extra on my part)

On this one the only extra pieces I used were a few orange leaves (from last retreat co-incidentally!), some mini metter stickers and a red bazzill just the edge. And I put it together in about 20 minutes which is a record for me!

Not long now! I can hardly wait! Five more sleeps for me...Four if you are lucky enough to be going on Thursday!

Echo Park Life is Good

I have a fun and whimsical layout for you today! It is done using the Echo Park Life is Good line in the Shop.

I have used stickers and papers and a few Prima Flowers to jazz it up a bit! I also splattered a few globs of white paint over the background.

I have plenty more papers and stickers left over and will be taking the rest on retreat with me next weekend! I hope to see you there!

New My Minds Eye

Happy Friday morning everyone! Thought I would quickly drop by and show you some more of the new MME Lost & Found collections. I would have to say this has been one of my favourite collections of all times from MME (and they regularly put out fantastic stuff!). It has been pretty hot in store too, practically walking out the door!

I have used the Cherish collection from the Madison Avenue range for this project. One of the things I really loved was the die cut shape is double sided this time which gives you even more options for putting your pages together. Also the packaging can be used on your pages too. The little pink stripey strips on this page came from the button packaging! Pretty cool hey?!

Products: My Minds Eye Lost & Found Madison Avenue - Cherish papers, Bazzill cardstock, MME Lost & Found Madison Avenue - Sisters buttons, Martha Stewart border punch, Kaiser Craft crocheted lace, Vintage Photo distress ink, Basic Grey cardstock letters, Making Memories Slice and Vintage Findings design card

The lace flower uses some Kaiser Craft cotton lace and the leaves were cut using my Slice and the Vintage Findings design card. Creating the journalling lines was really easy too, all I did hear was grab a plastic ruler and some Vintage Photo distress ink, ink up the edge of the ruler and "stamp" it onto my page where I wanted the journalling to go! Easy!

Hi there everyone! How are you on this fine and very WINDY morning? I am sitting up in my studio enjoying the sound of the wind whipping through the gum trees across the road...It makes me feel llike I am near the ocean!

So I have a layout to share with you today that I made using the leftover papers from my baby banner. I am really enjoying linear designs at the moment. They allow me to keep my page nice and neat and I also get to use my border punches!

Here is a little close up of the details!

I made a stack of the layered flowers again. I am so happy that I have almost finished the whole container...I end up with way too many leftovers sometimes!

New Challenge

Well, two weeks has come and gone just a little too quickly. But on the bright side, this means a new challenge for you to try! Once again we have a great challenge with some wonderful samples by our girls and better a awesome prize!! So, do you want to hear what the challenge is???

New Basic Grey Pyrus

This gorgeous new line from Basic grey is just perfect for outdoors photos and is among some of the awesome CHA releases arriving in store anyday now........... if not already!!!!. I have created the following 2 layouts based on the Basic Grey CHA instruction sheets. Keep an eye out in store for Pyrus, it is just lovely. The second layout, whilst the general design is the same I changed it around a bit to suit my style and photos.

You will see that I have used the same alphabet on both layouts but have coloured the word Lone in on the bottome layout. I used a brown copic marker (E79) to colour over the top of the letters and as the letter already had a smooth surface, the ink showed up beautifully and has a lovely shiny finish. Copic markers are a really useful tool and come in an amazing range of colours and not just for stamping/cardmaking.

I used my cricut and Gypsy to design the flags...they are diamond shapes from the Once upon a Princess cartridge. I sized them to be able to layer them by using the layer option on the gypsy. The chysanthymum type flowers are just lots (5 or 6) of paper flowers layered on top of each other with a brad to hold them together and scrunched together to make them sit up.

I used my Cuttlebug and Spellbinders to make the lacy background for the flowers, then strung it up on some dyed crochet lace.
The font is from the Nursery Rhymes Cartridge.

How to Flowers

Hi there, Katie here again! Just thought I would pop in and give you a little step-by-step to show you how I made the flowers on my Hippie Girl layout. These flowers are really easy and perfect to make so that you can co-ordinate with each project you do. Best thing they let you dust off an old favourite punch (although of course you are not limited to just using the punch!), the good old "Retro flower punch". Remember that one?! This was one of the first punches that I just had to have, and it seemed to be everywhere for a while, and it came in a series of sizes too.

Ideally you need three nesting sizes of this punch, but you can get away with two sizes. Alternatively if you have another style of nesting flower dies or punches you could use that, or even cut the flowers in the necessary sizes using an electronic die cutting machine. The possibilities are many!

So with your preferred cutting method, you need to cut 3 of the largest size, 3 of the middle size and 2 of the smallest size. So you end up with something a little like this:

Now you want to stack these together, largest on the bottom of the stack up to smallest on top, off-setting each flower from the one underneath as you go. Then secure them together to get something that looks like this:

Quite pretty by itself, but we are going to make it so much more beautiful in a couple of easy steps! You want to lightly spray this with water now, and the ranger mini misters are perfect for this job. Once damp this makes the paper easier to work with. Gently start folding the petals up to the centre starting with the smallest flowers and working your way to the outer petals. You may need to add a little more water to the outer petals as you go.

Then eventually when they have all been folded in you will finish with something a little like this.

Then we gently start unfolding the flower again. The act of folding and unfolding while the petals were damp helps to give some shape and texture to the petals and of course is much easier to do while damp than when the petals are dry. So finally you should end up with a finished flower that looks a little like this.

As a final touch you could spray some glimmer mist or perfect pearls to give some shine or you could add some Stickles, Kindy Glitz or Dimensional Magic to the petals for more dimension.

To use this procedure with only two sizes of flowers I used 3 of each size and this created the two smaller flowers on my page.

I just love making my own flowers and it seems to be something everyone is doing. This little tutorial comes from something I read somewhere, so I cannot claim ownership, but I also cannot tell you exactly who came up with the idea. But, it certainly gives plenty of ideas on how to use things we already have and make our own perfect flower embellishments for our projects!

Oooh I was so excited to help Leisa unpack this in the shop but it only made it so much harder to choose which collection I was going to use. Rest assured I did buy more than one!!

The collection I have used in my layout is Union Square "Moments". I have used the title card and buttons as well as the alphabet. I have also used some new Prima bling and very cute Tiny Alpha stickers from Kaiser Craft.

My Mind's Eye always make it easy to create a quick and effective layout with their gorgeous co-ordinating products - you really can't go wrong.

Well I'm off to create my next MME layout right now!

Hi there, Katie here. Thought I would jump on and tell you about one of my favourite new products from Kaiser Craft. Especially appropriate with the challenge too! I am loving their release of background stamps! Yes, for those who don't know already, I do have a stamp problem already, but this is different.... Honest!

The Kaiser Craft background stamps work beautifully and I love using the Ranger Distress inks with them, and with so many colours to choose from there is always one to match my project. Do you remember my Hippie Girl sample for the challenge, well, if you look carefully at the background you will see a soft check, this was all done using this Kaiser background stamp:

And here is a close-up from the layout so you can see the effect. It is quite subtle here as I chose an ink colour to closely match the cardstock (Aged Paper Distress Ink if I remember correctly). I just lined up the stamp each time to keep the pattern going, which was easy with the clear stamp, until my background was covered. A little trick too, if you are laying paper down, you don't need to stamp behind this, which saves some time!

But what if you want a more bold result? Well you can do that too! In this example, again using Kaiser Craft papers I have used the grunge stamp, this time with darker ink (Vintage Photo Distress Ink) on Kraft cardstock, to give a result that looks like a patterned paper.

Just by repeatedly stamping the background (turning and changing the stamps direction as I went), until I covered the cardstock, I ended up with my own perfectly matching piece of patterned card! Imagine all the other possibilities with different inks and background stamps available! I finished the above piece off by gently adding some ink colour to the edges of the cardstock as well and blending it towards the centre a little.

So, there you have it. More things you can do with the versatile Kaiser Craft stamps! Now just a reminder, you have about 6 days to get your entry in for our first challenge. Cosmo Cricket Togetherness

Hi there everyone! I have a layout to share with you today from one of my favourite manufacturers, Cosmo Cricut. This range has a fun vintage feel to it, with lots of icons and charcters to make it usable all round. Check out the full range by clicking here.

I have used lots of patterned paper, the chipboard stickers, the stickers and some Kaiser bling.

I finally relented and included a banner on my page...to make it I cut out a stack of triangles on my cricut and then ran them continuously through the sewing machine. I made a couple of metres of the stuff and have the rest draped over the shelves in my studio. I love it and so does Audrey. She wants a pink one as soon as I have time to make it!

I have also recently purchased a stack of Spellbinders die cutters. I can't believe it took me so long to jump on that bandwagon too! Keep an eye out for them on my next project. I am just as I type this adding the final touches to a baby banner on the new Jack and Jill range from Prima!

So, what do you think of our brand new look?? Looks fabulous doesn't it?! A big thank you to Zoe for designing this for us (not to mention fixing it all up too!). So, what does this new look mean?

Well, Scrapbook City has decided to get more active in blog land, and we thought you, our readers, might enjoy a more interactive kind of blog too. What we are going to do is provide you with lots of interesting tips and techniques and chit chat about the Scrapbooking industry and also challenges with opportunities for you to win great prizes. We have also created a second blog to show off our new found love of cards and cardmaking. You can find the link to this at the top of the page. This means too that we have two teams, one to cover the layout side of things and one to cover the cards. So make sure you jump over to the new card blog to check that out!

To launch our new look blog and the new card blog we are going to start off with a great challenge and a fantastic prize!

We are going to kick off with a Kaiser Craft challenge. Kaiser is one of our most popular manufacturers and they are constantly bringing out beautiful papers and extras and they are Australian to boot. So we figured most people would have some Kaiser in their stash! But we are going to give you some restrictions, after all you can't have it too easy! You need to create a page using one of the following collections (or you could mix and match from them all!):

Basic Grey "Wander"

I was lucky enough to get to use some of the new Wander papers that Leisa brought back from CHA to do this layout from my travels up North. The Wander papers will be in-store shortly and they are basically a travel line of papers but the colours would lend themselves to any masculine or even kids page with their beautiful, vibrant colours.

I have actually used a piece of one of the tickets that we received at Hartley's Croc Adventures and it actually matched the papers which was a bonus!

There will be heaps more embellishments that you will be able to use as well. I have used the alphabet stickets and die cut sticker sheet but I definitely have my eye on the woolies and pieces as well and will be snapping them up as soon as they arrive!

Make sure you keep an eye out for these new papers in the next week or two.

I was editing some client photos and found these little gems on the card! I took them into the shop a couple of weeks ago now, but I know both lines are still in stock!

First up we have Creative Imaginations Star Wars range. Such a fun range to use! We actually held Joseph a Star Wars themed birthday a few years back and I have been hanging onto these photos waiting to get my hands on this range. Of course as soon as I got it I was attacked by a case of scrappers block, but it wore off soon enough and I made this:

Yep, that is my husband dressed up as Darth Vader!

Next up is one of the latest WeRMK ranges, called Show and Tell....just in time for all the professional school photos that usually roll in at this time of year. I used last years one and I just love it...it sure beats the one from the year before which is yet to be scrapped as I laugh at it every day!
I cut out the file tab with my cricut (Graphically Speaking) and the rest came together quite easily! There is a bit of dimenstion to the layout. It is instore if you would like to see more.

I hope everyone is organised for the retreat. I will be there with Miss Annie for a couple of nights...I am certainly looking forward to seeing everyone again!

New Basic Grey and Tim Holtz

Hi there everyone, Katie here. Well, we are getting into a busy time now with Leisa back from CHA and new stock ordered and on its way. But to keep you keen in the mean time here are a couple of layouts using the soon to be released (yes we were lucky enough to get some samples!) Marjolaine from Basic Grey. This collection is full of beautiful greens, blues and browns perfect for boy pages and lots more!

These pages are based on layouts created by Basic Grey's Vicki Boutin but have my own twist of course! And that is a bit of Tim Holtz magic!!! If you love Tim's stamps be sure to come in store (or jump on line) quickly because we have had a pretty big order of his stamps come in just the other day, but they are already moving so hurry if you are interested.

For my page titled "Meet Brains" I have turned a plain background page into something a little more interesting using the splatter stamp from the Bitty Grunge set and weathered wood distress ink was the perfect match too. I also used my foam blending tool to add some more colour to the edges of the page.

On the title and journaling tag I used some shabby shutters with the scratchy grunge stamp from the same set to add some interest around the edges and also used this colour ink to create some lines for my writing. To do this I used the edge of a plastic ruler coated in ink as a stamp!

The stars are stamped using an older stamp set and vintage photo ink and then coated with vintage photo stickles.

On this next page "The Velocitron", I used the same Bitty Grunge stamp set to grunge up one corner with the scratchy stamp, and all the cut out circles have been inked with vintage photo or shabby shutters to make them blend.

I also used one of the tickets from the Odds and Ends stamp set (one of my favourites and literally hot off the press from July's CHA) which I cut out and added in as an embellishment. Adding a curled paper border and rosette help add some more interest to the page too, not to mention the little paper curls, finish with a bit of dimensional magic here and there (although hard to see!) and its done!

Hi Tammie here,

I thought that I would share a few of my creations using gorgeous Bo Bunny Block Party and Petal Pushers collections available now.

First up is a layout using Petal Pushers by Bo Bunny. This is such a bright and funky girly range and as soon as I saw it I knew that it would be perfect for these photos of my daughter learning to ride her bike without training wheels. It was such an exciting moment and one that definately need to be scrapbooked!

next I had the joy of creating wih the cool Block party range. I was thrilled that the papers compliment this photo. I have been wanting to scrap this photo of our holiday to Rainbow beach in 2007. we had so much fun at the beach and Ethan just loved jumping the waves (with my help) I also used the very cool Kaisercraft clear bubble wrap stamp and white ink for the background which adds a little interest!

The Bo Bunny chipboard shapes are great! and I have used the very cool Cosmo cricket alphas, they are great and come in a variety of colours!

We R Memory Keepers Out and About

Michelle here - I was really excited to have the chance to do something with these new papers from WRMK from the Out and About range. I have a pile of holiday photos on my desk waiting to be scrapped - the hard part was deciding which ones to use!

These papers have beautiful colours and the embellishments are really cute and easy to use. After completing my layout I really wished that I had used more of my massive pile of photos to complete the layout so I decided to use one of the WRMK Hybrid Photo Sleeves and managed to use another four 4x6 photos and tie it into my other layout by using some left-over bits and pieces from the papers and embellishments. I just love how easy it is to do a second page with these sleeves - it literally took me about 15-20 minutes to do! Why don't you give them a go. There are heaps of options to choose from as well.

Here is my latest DT layout! It has been a little while I know...life has been pretty hectic for us lately. I have used the new Bo Bunny Summer Fun range. I loved the journaling books they have put out...I used three pages from it to create my journaling spot! Gotta get some bang for my bucks!

I love all the awesome new products Leisa has been sharing with us! Gee I wish I was over there with her. Would that not be the best holiday ever!!!! CHA is always such an inspiring time of year too, I am busting to get scrapping tomorrow night.

Oh Prima, the most beautifulest of them all. I just love love love these prima flowers and the example layouts that they have in there booth. I have ordered heaps and heaps of flowers.

Ok, so most of you will know by now that there is a new machine coming to the Cricut Family. I didnt get a good look but I'm sure you will find lots of info on the cricut.com website. But it prints in colour and then cuts. All existing cartridges are used, and yes the gypsy can be used with this new machine. looks very intriging.

Oh and yes check out the new look for the cuttlebug, I like it. Particularly the way the handle folds away. very cute.

Here's Tim's Ideal-ology booth. I stumbled across it accidentally today, whilst I was looking for another company and boy was I blown away. It was simply beautiful. No expense was spared.

Check out all the pretty ribbons above, they all started out as white (tim says why need any other colour) and they they have been coloured with Distress Ink Reinkers mixed with water and sprayed from a Mini Mister bottle. They look so pretty.

Ok here's what you've all been waiting for, some news on Tim. Well here he is with his new machine the "Vagabond". Unfortunately us aussies will have to wait until next year for our machines but they are definitely on the way. The US should have theirs by October. Ok so what is it do I hear you asking. Basically it is a electronic Big shot, no winding a handle, just press a button, but in Tim Style. The machine looks like a suitcase (in January Tim said he wanted a machine that would look good sitting on your desk, even if you never used it LOL) and it sure does look great, and from what I can see it cuts great too. No problems cutting through grungeboard, and really thick cork. The other great thing is that it will be compatible with other brand dies, ie spellbinders. I think I've gotta get me one of these.

By the way I asked him about a visit to Brisbane..... more to come on that one.

Day 1 at CHA

Hi Everyone

I'm back with a CHA wrap up of Day 1 of the show. One thing I know many of you have been waiting to hear about is when is the new e-Craft coming. Well here is some interesting news

Firstly, Craftwell have completely changed the machine since January, when I 1st saw it. The colour is slightly different it has lost the pearly look, and the colours now are much stronger, and there is now also a blue colour. Hot Pink and Purple are shown here.

Secondly there is not 3 models as originally planned, there is now only 1, but the extra software that was originally an optional extra is now included as standard. Thats the software that will enable you to hook up to your computer and cut whatever images you can obtain from your computer. The price has now gone up, but not as much as it would have been if you had paid for the extra software.

So still an exciting machine, it still will be very very reasonable compared to other machines that are similar. Oh did I mention that it will become cordless as well, it will have a lithium battery included.

CHA Summer Chicago 2010

Hello Everyone, greetings from "Windy" Chicago. I am so excited to be here at CHA Summer. Right now it is 4am in the morning, I can't sleep, so I thought I would give you all a quick update of what I have been doing so far.

Many of you may know that the show only starts on Tuesday (it is now Monday morning), but I have been very privileged to be part of a huge 2 day "Pre-show viewing", so to say the least I have seen lots and lots of new things already.

Here's what I have loved so far {i'm sorry I haven't taken many photos, I will take a heap on day 1 of the show}...........

ok 1st of all, I have to say that, Tim says hi to everyone, yes I had the great pleasure of listening to Tim today present all his new goodies, from Ranger products, to Sizzix, Idea-ology and Stampers Anonymous. As usual he is "looking good" and so are his new things. From Ranger he has released 12 new colours of Distress Stickles, these are the new colours to match his Distress Inks. From Sizzix he has some really cool new dies, he is so clever, but I will have to tell more later. His new Idea-ology stuff is just beautiful, of course I will order everything, and yes finally I will be able to get my hands on his Stampers Anonymous Stamps. Most new things were in the Halloween or Christmas spirit, but very very nice. I will attempt to get some video of him on Tuesday so stayed tuned for that. And of course his booth at the show I'm sure will be just beautiful, heaps of photos to come to.

Something also that I came across from Stampers Anonymous is a label called "Darcie's". I am very excited about this, her stamps are just gorgeous, and so are her cards. These will be coming to Scrapbook City very very soon.

So of course, one of our favourites is always My Minds Eye, and this was no exception this year. Zoe you have excelled again, your Alphabet Soup collection is just lovely. Ladies, don't forget Zoe will be doing classes for us soon, using this collection, do not miss this, you will love her layouts. I also can't wait to get my hands on Lost and Found, all I can say is very beautiful. And then 2 new Christmas collections will be coming Holly Jolly which is a very traditional collection (my favourite) and then I Believe, a bit more up beat.

BoBunny - well what can I say, except the photos do not do these new collections any justice at all. it is absoloutely simply stunning in real life. I cannot wait for this to hit our shelves. 5 new collections, called Olivia, Cambridge, Learning Curve (a great new school collection), and 2 beautiful beautiful Christmas collections.

Can I say that "Making Memories is back", their new collections this time are just stunning, so you can expect the shop to be full of MM shortly. There is a new and improved Slice Machine, and lots of new Design Cards coming. But it was the new collections that I was most impressed with particularly their Christmas line "Noel".

Oh I haven't mentioned Spellbinders yet. Guess what, there is a new machine, called the "Grand Calibur" very very easy to use, I go it a go, but what you will like about it is that it can feed paper of up to 8.5 x 11 through, so what this will mean is that quite a few dies can go through the machine at once, yay. And also they have new oversized dies to go through the machine. I have definitely ordered these, and we will get the machine and dies up for preorder on our website shortly, I know you are going to love them.

Ladies, that's it for now, but stay tuned for sometime after Tuesday, I promise, I will take heaps of photos, and try and get Tim on video.

Bo Bunny Block Party

I've just returned from a great trip up to North Queensland and was so happy to find on my return these fantastic new papers and embellishments from Bo Bunny - perfect for my tropical photos from my holiday. Having said that, these papers are also perfect for masculine pages with their gorgeous reds, greens, blues and browns and the stars in the chipboard sheet. I have a few more pages to do with these great papers as well!

Imma Busy Bee!

Hi there everyone! I thought I would pop by and share a couple of layouts with you...something fresh and clean for the new season!
First up we have some Kaisercraft. The Tea at Elsie's line has been around for a couple of months now, but I just love the colours...peach is my favourite hue :) Not sure if you can see it in the picture, but I added jewels to the centre of the flowers in the background paper. The large flowers were all cut from another piece of paper and the swirls were done with my cricut.
More Kaisecraft, this time with Hello Birdie! Such an easy range to work with, beautiful elements, pretty colours. You really couldn't do a bad layout with this range! I also included some border stickers and some cream letters from the basic grey Basics range.

And finally one using the Basic Grey Basics range only. I loved all the white papers and have been wanting to do a layout with all the differnet handmade flowers I have seen on the net for a while now. This was the perfect chance and luckily I had some cute photos to go with it!

Sorry for the shadows...Didn't see them 'til I had given in the layout to Kerri and Leisa!

KI Memories - Sweet Life

The new "Sweet Life" collection from KI memories is so cute... and it gave me an excuse to scrap outside my usual boy themes! It's full of sweet things like cookies, lollies, rabbits and would be great for Easter layouts... I decided to do a layout about my disastrous attempts at cake-making, and the bright colours in the line were perfect for my photo. There are some super cute rubber charms with this line too that are just adorable, so make sure you check it out!

Pink Paislee "Queen Bee" & Fancy Pants "Road Show"

Hi everyone! :)

Zoe here with a couple more pages using some of the beautiful new releases at the store from Pink Paislee and Fancy Pants!

As soon as I saw the Queen Bee line from Pink Paislee when I was at CHA, I couldn't wait to use it... It's really beautiful and the colours are so elegant and timeless, it's great for all sorts of pages! I thought it worked great with my more "vintage" style wedding photos... And that pleated trim makes a nice change from plain old ribbon!

And this is my new favourite Butterfly Punch from Martha Stewart - so pretty! I picked it up at the store the other week, and I'm sure I will be using it on as many pages as I can from now on!

This page uses the new Road Show line from Fancy Pants. Everything in this line is so pretty, and the colours are just to die for! I wish I had a little girl to scrap with it, but me and my hubby will have to do for now - LOL!

Fancy Pants - Rusted Sun

Hi there, Katie here again. I have finally got a spare second so that I could share my new Fancy Pants layout using the gorgeous Rusted Sun range. These papers are so rich and colourful that they could be used for just about anything, but in keeping with the sun theme I went for a beach layout. I also got to play with the Zipper punch which is new from EK Success. This is such a fun punch and just imagine how it would look if you put two different coloured punched strips together! But I think my favourite was the gorgeous ribbon and trim that came with the collection! And as per my usual MO I have made a card also just to show how versatile the papers can be!

Hi everyone! Ang here with a few layouts to show off some of the stunning new product in the store at the moment! I love it when a whole big shipment comes in...my room is already bursting at the seams but I seriously cannot resist all the gorgeous new stuff!

It is the cutest little range and the stickers, Alphabets and embellishments that match are so sweet and fun and make creating the layout so easy. I had these photos of my Son's big bed and first doona cover made by his Grandma and capturing this memory in such a fun way is so pleasing. This range would be great for lots of different types of photos, Boys and their toys, travel/ road trip, school, First car etc!

I will be back tomorrow again with some more projects that are in the shop that I have not yet posted on here.

Graphic 45 Le Romantique.

Hi, it is Tammie here, posting a layout using some of the fabulous products in store! I hope that those who attended the retreat had a fabulous time and enjoyed every minute of the scrapping bliss!

Ok onto the layout-

This one has been created using the Graphic 45 - Le Romantique range.

Obviously this range is a wedding/ love range and is perfect for wedding photos of many eras as it has that gorgeous vintage feel. I used the tag sheet and 2 of the pattterned papres from the range. The tag sheet is double sided so gave me a number of options! I cut the large flower using my Making memories slice and added some pearl glimmer mist and ink around the edges. the other flowers were created using some gorgeous gold edged net ribbon available in store now. I handstitched down the middle and gathered the ribbon into the circles then added the die cut rose circle to the middle and glued it to the page using some pritt Power Gel. A prima flower Say it in pearls flourish finishes off the page beautifully!

I am going to have to finish this post here as I am unable to upload any more photos at the moment.

KI Memories Paisley Parade and WRMK 72 & Sunny

These new papers from KI are what I would call "old school" and very similar to some of their first ever releases which was when I first fell in love with KI. The colours are fantastic to work with and with their new improved paper thickness and great embellishments, you will have no trouble putting together a fantastic layout. In my layout "Chelsea-Mackenzie" I have kept the design simple to keep the focus on the photo which I have placed in the centre of the layout. I have also picked a colour that is not in my photo as my background paper to make the photo stand out as well.

The second layout I have done is with We R Memory Keepers 72 & Sunny. These papers are so just so wonderful and bright - I just love the primary colours as they seem to jump off the page. The embellishments that go with this range are just so cute and there are heaps to chose from.

New Pink Paislee 365 Degrees and Fancy Pants Family

The first is my layout "Reflect" which has been done with one of the new ranges from Pink Paislee "365 Degrees". These have been the papers that I have been waiting for. Just love the primary colours with a distressed feel to them. The embellishments are a little out of the ordinary as well with cork and the beautiful ribbon pleats that I have used on this layout.

The second is "My Boy" which I have done with the gorgeous "My Family" range of papers from Fancy Pants. This line has a large number of patterned papers and heaps of great matching embellishments. They really lend themselves to a distressed look and the colours have that warm fuzzy feel about them. I have also had a go at making some patterned paper flowers.

These are really simple:-

1. Just draw a spiral circle about 15cm wide and cut out along the pencilled line. You can also cut in a curved motion for a more decorative shape. You can alter the size of your flower by making your spiral bigger or smaller.

2. Ink the edges.

3. Start from the outside of the spiral and roll the paper in towards the centre.

4. Adhere the rolled flower to the spiral's centre and open the bloom by bending the edges back. This part is a bit fiddly but worth the effort.

5. Pop a brad or similar in the centre for decoration and to hold in place.

New KI Memories

Hi there, Katie here again! Well, we have just had a huge shipment arrive, so there is lots of new ranges being played with at the moment. KI Memories, Fancy Pants and Pink Paisley to name a few, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for new projects over the next couple of weeks!

Today I am going to show you the beautiful new KI Memories collection called Enchanting. And let me just say it is, enchanting that is! The colours are beautiful and the patterns just gorgeous, and what blew me away is how the KI products have changed (for the better). The papers are now slightly heavier and are all double sided and the embellishments that they have for each collection are just beautiful! Anyway, enough babbling.....

I also used some of the great new EK Success border punches, four in fact! These new punches are selling so fast too. I have used Bracket, Acanthus Leaf, Scalloped Circle Chain and Double Crotchet Lace and all of them are just great! (By the way I think I need to find a new storage space for all my border punches!!!)

MME - Little Boy Blue & Best Creation Inc - Transportation

Hi everyone :)

Zoe here again with a couple more pages that you've been wanting to see on the blog!

First up is MME's Little Boy Blue set from the new Quite Contrary range... I'll be teaching this class next month at Scrapbook City, but in the meantime I thought I'd give you a peek for those of you who haven't been into the store lately.

This set in the Quite Contrary line is so cute for boys of all ages, and features lots of trees, owls (my favourite thing at the moment), and lots of cute co-ordinating embellishments!

I also got to work with one of the cutest lines from a company that’s completely new to me… Transportation from Best Creation Inc. I was really impressed with this line… It’s so boyish and cute, and the little graphics are perfect for cutting out to make little embellishments.

I hand cut the little planes from the papers, as well as the truck border at the bottom... This is a really sweet line for little boys, so check it out in store if you're looking to get some boy pages done!

Bo-Bunny - Mama-Razzi

Hello everyone, Katie here. I have just had the pleasure of playing with some of the new Bo-Bunny Mama-Razzi papers. This collection is really great for boys pages as well as the intended "Mum's with cameras" theme! I have also had fun using two of the new EK Success border punches in these projects too! I really love my border punches and they are such a simple way to add a little pizazz to your page! But be quick, these new ones are selling really fast.

I have also been playing with the new alcohol inks in store. Let me tell you, these are so much fun to play with, and if you are not sure what to do with them then come along to one of the classes we have soon. These cards that I have made give some ideas as to the techniques that will be covered in the classes. The last two cards are based by ones by Jennifer McGuire (now she is an expert on all things ink!!).

Imaginese - Live Loud

Hi Everyone!

I have been waiting for some papers to do a layout about my son learning the guitar and hey presto, Imaginese comes up with this fantastic range of papers called "Live Loud". The colours are fantastic and very unisex. The rubons are so easy to use and I just love the mirrored look of some of the embellishments. I have also done a layout (just a very simple one) about the songs that are on my ipod right now. This will be a great thing to look back on in the years to come.

I hope you enjoy using these papers as much as I did.

Lil Robots & Material Girl

Hi everyone! Zoe here again (I just don't quit, do I? LOL). I managed to get some photos this morning of a couple more layouts while the sun was shining... Let's hope it stays that way - it's been no fun being housebound these last couple of weeks with all the rain!

First up is MME's new Lil Robots set... I was dying to get my hands on this as soon as I saw it, and it's just perfect for boy pages! So cute!

Aren't these little guys just about the cutest things you've ever seen?

Next up is the cute new line from Cosmo Cricket - Material Girl! A few weeks ago we were going through my Mother In Law's old photos and I came across this happy snap from the 70's of my hubby and his mum. As soon as I saw this line, I knew it would be perfect with all those retro colours. It's got all sorts of crafty graphics too, and it would be awesome for pages about crafting, etc... I think it's adorable!

As you can probably tell, I'm a big fan of chipboard embellishments - LOL - and these ones are absolutely gorgeous! I also used the new Cosmo Cricket alphas that are in store on this page - I am totally in love with them and will be using them again and again I'm sure...

The element sheet for this set is pretty cool too - I even made a little hidden journaling spot behind the photo with one (to hide my awful handwriting - LOL)

Hi everyone! :) Zoe here... I'm new to the design team here at Scrapbook City and am so excited to be joining the talented girls here! I've been scrapping up a storm over the last week with all the awesome new arrivals at the store, and thought I'd share a couple of pages that I've done so far...

First up, is from the new Lush range from MME - I got to play with the blue collection, and it was absolutely perfect for my wedding photos... This line is so elegant and versatile, and everything came together so easily! Even though it's a pretty simple page, it's one of my favourites:

I also got to work with the super cute new line from Cosmo Cricket, Joy Ride! As a mum of a little boy, I'm always on the hunt for cute boy products and this one was perfect for my little guy...

The chipboard embellishments for this line are soooo cute too! :)

Hi everyone! Ang here again. I I just wanted to share a couple more layouts with you I have done using some of the gorgeous new products from the shop.
First up we have the Lush range from MME. I am really in love with this stuff...it is truly LUSH! So rich and textured and just simply beautiful!

Then here is this one from the other ranges from MME. I got to work with the 'Hello Beautiful' papers from th 'Little Miss Muffet' group. I love these pics of Annie and even though they are not a perfect colour match, they are pretty close!
I also used the Martha Stewart Monarch Butterfly punch...mmmm what a beautiful design!

And finally the WeRMemory Keepers Easter range Hippity Hoppity. It is by far the nicest Easter range ever...so bright and colourful and cheery! I did only buy enough for this layout but I do want to get some more...so make sure thre is a bit left for me! LOL!

More My Minds Eye

Well, I am back again already! This time with some gorgeous My Minds Eye. The first layout and card/invitation have used the luscious Lush range in black with splashes of red. These ranges are just beautiful and oh so classy. The ribbons and brads are a necessity and I feel the need to purchase one of each colour!

The next card and layout have used the Quite Contrary Little Boy Blue range called Thats My Boy. These come with papers and embellishments in a set and are a great bargain. The embellishments are so easy to use and lend themselves to cards just as easily as they do to layouts. Not to mention it is nice to have some great boys ranges too!

Well, thats it for me for now. Hope this inspires you to do some crafting!

My Mind's Eye Lush - Red

I have been busy this week and loving all these wonderful new papers.

My next project is from the MME range "Lush" and I have used the red range. Each range has some lovely velvet specialty papers and I really loved the velvet flowers that I have used in this particular layout. If you have trouble scrapping just with two colours (like me) pop a small amount of one or two other colours from your photos to add some interest. There are also two types of alphas, velvet and plain and I have used the velvet one here.

Pink Paisley - Cupid Collection

Are you in the mood for love? With Valentines Day just passed, I thought I would do a lovey dovey layout with my dear hubby using the Pink Paisley range - Cupid.

I cut out lots of hearts with my Cricut machine. It was made easier by using my Gypsy to select all my cartirdges that had hearts on them. I then loaded them up and cut away...so fast and easy. After inking them all I layered them and popped a few up with some foam tape.

The Borderlines Stickers helped to finish it off perfectly.

Sassafrass Lass - Apple Jack

This is the latest release from Sassafrass. I just love their bold designs and bright colours. I am really drawn to colour and if it is the right hue it just puts me in the best mood to create!

Even though Apple Jack is kind of kindy/school based, I chose to do a layout based on colour...something that I do enjoy!

It is even a multi photo layout...that pile of photos on my desk just went down by 3!

Hi there! Katie here! Well, I have for the first time, had a play with some Websters Pages and Sassafrass Lass and guess what? I am still in one piece! These paper ranges always had me a little scared with just what to do with them, but I thought it was time to overcome my fear and go into the great unknown. I am happy to report I have come out the other side quite unharmed and with a couple of new companies to add to my "favourites" list!!

So I had Garden Gala from Websters Pages and found the colours and patterns just beautiful.

From Sassafrass Lass I used the Nerdy Bird range and this is so much fun. With some great letters and embellishments at great prices making it really easy to co-ordinate everything. I do know that this (along with the other new Sassafrass collections) have been so popular that more stock has had to be ordered to keep up with demand!

So, if you haven't had a look at these manufacturers before, why not give them a go! They are a lot of fun to use!

Quite Contrary - "Happy Birthday"

Another layout from me today. This time I have used the gorgeous papers from the Quite Contrary "Happy Birthday" range. With beautiful co-ordinating papers and stickers, journalling blocks and title cards, you will have a fantastic layout whipped up in no time at all.

Using a grid-style as I have in this layout lets you use lots of photos as well as getting some great embellishments on your layout without it looking overdone and cluttered.

Quite Contrary - "When I Grow Up"

I just love the masculine papers that My Minds Eye put out and the new range Quite Contrary - Little Boy Blue is no exception. I could have done layouts with all the different papers in the range! The embellishments are so easy to use and this range comes as stickers as well so it is even easier and quicker to get a great layout done. I have kept this one quite simple and got it done in around an hour. Don't you just love the Cosmo Cricket alphabet as well!

Sassafrass Lass - Cherry Delicious

Kaiser - Empire

Here is a little layout I have done using Kaiser's Empire range. I love the colours in this, they are so bright and happy...very inspiring!
The layout was very quick, just 12 large and 12 small circles punched and inked then sewn together with a button. Rubons and diecuts are on the outer edges and the photo and title are on one piece of pp. A little flower diecut I had sitting on my desk finished it off just right! Happy Scrapping - Ang

Basic Grey - Origins

Hi there everyone! I am back with some more layouts! I have been scrapping up a storm here...there are even some more to come!
This time I have done a few layouts using the Basic Grey Origins Papers. I know Michelle did a beautiful one for Australia Day in this range, but I just had to use it for some school photos. Our school colours are Green and Gold and this range is just perfect for all my back to school photos.

First up Miss Audrey has started Prep.

Then one on how all three of them will be at the school together.

And another on how I have to do three of everything now and how much longer it takes! I am dreading when Annie starts school!

I love to create lots of layouts using the same products. I am finding that I use up lots of scraps and seem to not waste many embellishments either. I still have at least six layouts to do for back to school...and they will probably be done with this range :). I have also done a few cards on the side...

Do you have a Cricut?

So who out there has a cricut? I am betting there are quite a few of you. I know I love mine more than any other tool on my table. If I was stranded on an island and coiuld only bring one thing to scrap with aside from paper, glue and photos of course it would be my cricut. I try to use it on every layout I do. I really can't speak highly enough of it.

But now I have a new even more favourite tool. This one luckily works with my cricut making them the best team ever!!! I am of course speaking about the Gypsy. I got one for Christmas and have not looked back since!

Here are a few reasons I cannot scrap without it at the moment:
1. It holds all my cartidges. No changing mid cut, no taking 15 cartrdges with me when I go away. Just the cricut and the Gypsy are all I need.
2. I can take the Gypsy anywhere. I used to sit by the pool and design cuts while the kids swam on holidays. I can do a bit in front of the tele while I am still spending time with my hubby. It is just so portable!
3. It makes me use all my cartridges. I had a few sitting in the back of the cupboard because I was too lazy to get up and pick them up and load them. Not any more...I really feel like I am getting my money's worh of each cartridge!
4. It is super quick - I just desgign a mat and plug it into the cricut, no need to turn on the computer and go through design studio any more.

So if you do have a Cricut and were thinking of getting a Gypsy I can assure you it is a very worthwhile investment!

New I-Top In Store Now

Hi there, Katie here, I have jumped on to share the exciting news about the great new tool that has just landed in store. The i-top from Imaginisce is now here and this is one fantastic tool that you will have to make sure to add to your Christmas list (or you can just buy it for yourself and put it under the tree, I think I will!).

What does this tool do I hear you ask? Well this tool lets you create your own brads! Yep, you can now coordinate your brads to your project using papers, fabric, ribbons and even photos. Pretty cool hey?! The brads come in 3 sizes (small, medium and large) and early in the new year Imaginisce will be releasing a magnet back allowing you to make gorgeous little button magnets too!

Check out my sample page, I have created two medium size brads (22mm) using patterned papers. One I then coated in Kindy Glitz and the other I sprayed with Glimmer Mist. As you can imagine the sky is the limit with the fabulous creations you can make with this great tool.

Another fabulous tool that has landed recently are the new Deep Edge Border Punches from Martha Stewart. These are gorgeous (yes I already have bought one) and sure to be another favourite. I will do up a sample with mine soon, so keep a look out for that. All these punches and the i-top are in store now and will be up in the on-line store today or tomorrow. If you can't wait give Leisa or Kerri a call and let them know you need one now!

Baby Boy - Pebbles INC

Anyone like robots??? I sure do, especially cute ones like these! This range has a stack of doublesided thickish papers and two sets of stickers, and as you can see the colours are really easy to match up for titles!
The boys recently met our newest addition (1 of 2) to the clan, baby Harry. They were so in awe of his tininess it was too sweet!. These beautiful soft pages reall suited the black and white photos I had taken. I changed them to black and white because we first visited one day after school and they had ther emerald green shirts on...not a good colour for baby boy pages ;)!!

Have you had a go at changing your photos to black and white on the computer yet? Most photo editing programs have a desaturating function that works quite well. Of course if you like to play a bit more in Photoshop, you can create a stack of effects!

Ooh La La! MME

Talk about versatile, ths range is great! Aside from the usual boy/men pages you can do with a yellow and blue based range, you can really make it work for anything. Here I have used the green bowl, yellow eggs and cream shirt to be the focus of my colour palate and I love the result. I have had these photos hanging around for 2 years now and I am so glad to have them scrapped! I have also chosen to use lots of patterned paper for this one...I really couldn't chooe one they were all so nice!

Just a reminder to register for the Garage Sale if you have not done so yet. I have spent the last few days going through my stash and I have heaps to bring along. Needless to say I will be looking for a bargain on the day as well!

Abbey Road - MME

So has everyone seen the loveliness that is MME's latest release? I have been waiting for this range to come since I first saw it in June and I really was not disappointed!
This layout, Shine, shine, shine, was done using the Abbey Road rage. You can find it online here or it is in the caddy at the top of the stairs in the shop!

Here is a little layout tip:
I originally did my journaling on a tag that was sticking out from the right hand side of the photo. I also added it last, and when I did it really upset the balance of the layout as it ended up in the centre of the page and took away from the photo too much. So instead I journaled around the outside of the paper and accents!

New Kaiser and MME

Hi, Michelle here. I have had the chance to have a play with some of the great new products that have been arriving at Scrapbook City.

The first is the new Kaiser collection called "Rewind". The range is great for the male people in your life. The range of embellishments, rubons, alphas and even metal tags are fantastic as I know I always struggle to find great masculine embellishments for my pages.

The other range I have used is from My Minds Eye (MME) and is part of their Ooh La La collection. There is a great die cut sheet and beautiful papers that could be used for so many styles of pages.

My Minds Eye and Bo Bunny

Hi all, Katie here! Hope you have all been scrapping well lately! I have been lucky enough to have a play with some new My Minds Eye and Bo Bunny collections this week and I thought I would share the pages with you.

The first is Abbey Road from My Minds Eye, in particular the Round and Round range. As usual My Minds Eye have plenty of great papers to choose from including many shaped papers again, and to go with the papers are a great selection of chipboard, ribbons and brads as well as the ever faithful die-cuts. Keep a look out as I am sure there will be some more Abbey Road samples to come from the other girls too!

The other collection I played with was Delilah from BoBunny. These papers are so rich and pretty and were great to work with, I think my favourite though was the 12x12 sticker sheet that is half alphabet and half decorative stickers including borders! This sheet is such good value and I had enough alphas left over to use for the Hot Wheels title above!

How magical is this range? Websters Pages have a unique style of papers and accents that just scream collage and layers! I love the classic style and colours used, they have worked really well with these black and cream photos I altered in Photoshop.

The photos are from the Myer Santa in the Brisbane City Mall. He is seriously every scrapbooking mummies dream. First up, the kids get a ride on the Santa Express. They have to be at least 2 to ride and under a certain height but otherwise they are fine. After the ride they are ushered through into a waiting area with a reindeer sit on ride and a stack of Christmas books to look at. They don't usually wait too long until they are taken into a private room for their time with Santa. There is a mechanical Reindeer on the floor who is sleeping noisily and ..... the best part... you can take your own photos!!! As many as you like and whatever style you like. There is no pressure to buy their ones but I usually do get one with the three kiddies all together and take my own ones of them having their special time with Santa. Audrey would talk his ear off given half a chance I am sure! Stay tuned for the ones with the boys as more Christmas products become available.

K & Co Greenhouse

That's right guys, K & Co have done it again! I always enjoy their new releases and this one is no exception! Greenhouse has a beautiful bright spring palate with strong bold designs. There is plenty of paper in the paper pad to make both boy and girl layouts. With all the green based papers, picnics and outdoor photos can be scrapped in a breeze!

I also have a ton of photos from my childhood that will really suit this range. So far I have made 4 layouts plus added some flocked paper to a hot pink frame I picked up at IKEA for the baby! I also used my cricut to cut out a stack of shapes on a couple of pieces of paper. I have stored all the extra shapes inside the pad for use on another layout....or six!

Basic Grey - Eskimo Kisses

Hi Everyone, Katie here! I have just been lucky enough to play with some of the new Basic Grey range called Eskimo Kisses. This is a Christmas collection, but with the colours used it is very versatile and you could easily use it for other layouts, check out my blog to see a non Christmas layout I put together with my left overs!

For the page below I used these papers: Snow Cap, Powdered Sugar and Glazed Apple plus I used the gorgeous epoxy stickers. I also threw together a card with some of my scraps. Did you notice that I have also used the lacy Martha Stewart border punch to add some pizzaz to the page (oh and also on the card). I am having so much fun with all the great border punches out there at the moment I can guarantee you will love using them too! There are so many to choose from now you are sure to find one that appeals to your style!

I have been busy doing up my October Family Class with the wonderful new Websters Pages papers and embellishments. I have used the Nature Line papers. I had scraps left over and have done up another very simple layout. There is a beautiful depth about this line and you don't need to do much to get a great looking page.

Todays Spellbinders card is one of my favourites. I used Spellbinders Renaissance Hearts Pendants, Nestabilities Scalloped Circles, Nestabilities Circles to create the flower. The border is made from Renaissance Hearts Borderabilities.

Spellbinders "Fleur de lis" Pendant

Hello again, I'm back as promised. Here is another basic card using Spellbinders.

To make this one I used the Fleur de lis Pendant and the Nestabilities - Labels 1 for the centre embellishment. Border was cut using Fiskars Border Punch - Sunburst.

Spellbinders "Precious" Baby Card

Hi, Nic here. I have recently been playing hard with "Spellbinders". If you don't know, Spellbinders allow you to cut, emboss and stencil with a singe die. They are totally awesome and soooo easy to use. This is my first Spellbinders card.

To create the sentiment embellishment I used Nestabilities Classic Ovals Large and Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Ovals Large, and stamped wth JustRite Baby Stamp Ensemble. The star was cut & embossed from Shapeabilities Stars.
